Location

Layang Layang belongs to Malysia and is situated in middle of nowhere along with a small Malaysian Naval base. It is located in middle of the South China Sea, approximately 300 km north-west offshore of Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah Borneo. It is an oceanic atoll of the Spratly Islands and has a total land area of 0.1 km2 which most of this area is artificial land. Most of the atoll is under sea level even during low tide. The islands reef is falling down to approximately 2000 meter in depth. Deep water species like Hammerhead sharks visit this location. As fishing is not allowed, the fish life is in a healthy condition.
The island resort is open from March to August only, as the rest of the year is considered as the ‚Monsoon Season‘.
